Marouane Fellaini pressed his case for a recall to the Manchester United starting XI by scoring for their reserves as they beat their Liverpool counterparts 3-2 on Monday. The midfielder, whose last goal was for Belgium against Bosnia more than 12 weeks ago, opened the scoring with a close-range volley for United's second-string side. Fellaini has returned from a calf injury to figure in United's last two games, but as a substitute on both occasions and Louis van Gaal has tended to use him off the bench this season. The Belgian has not started a match since United's Capital One Cup exit to Middlesbrough in October and has only started three times for the club this season, just once in the league -- as a stand-in striker against Liverpool in September. Midfielder Sean Goss scored the winner for Warren Joyce's team on Tuesday while Nick Powell was also on target before Liverpool came from 2-0 down to draw level courtesy of goals from Jerome Sinclair and Madger Goss. Sergio Romero and Andreas Pereira also started for United, along with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, the 18-year-old left-back who made his first-team debut as a substitute in the 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion. Liverpool's team included left-back Jose Enrique, who is yet to make a first-team appearance this season.
