Juan Mata has said he is happy to play on the right wing for Manchester United, rather than looking to return to the No. 10 position.
Mata, 27, who was United's £37.1 million club-record signing when he joined from Chelsea in January 2014, has been an ever-present this season, cutting in from the right in Louis van Gaal's 4-2-3-1 formation.
However, the Spain international had his most productive campaign as a No. 10 with Chelsea in 2012-13, when he scored 20 goals, bagged 25 assists and was shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award.
The World Cup winner, who endured a spell out of the United team last season, said he has operated in a variety of roles during his career.
Mata told MUTV: "I used to be a striker, then I played as a No.10, then at Valencia I was a left winger and at Chelsea I was in midfield.
"I am very happy with where I'm playing right now. It doesn't matter where you play, you have to try to help the team. But obviously the best feeling in football is to score goals.
"I remember when I was 10 or 11 years old scoring a lot of goals, it was a great feeling to be a striker. I moved to Madrid, then to Valencia and then to England -- everything went so quickly. I feel very lucky to be a professional footballer."
