Louis van Gaal: Manchester United youngsters will get chance on U.S. tour

Manchester United's players will all get a chance to impress on the club's preseason tour of the United States as manager Louis van Gaal looks to ease them back to full fitness.

Van Gaal has decided to use his charges for a maximum of 45 minutes each in their first two fixtures, against Club America and San Jose Earthquakes, as he vowed to deploy at least 22 players per match.

The United boss plans to give players more time on the pitch in United's high-profile games against Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain as they prepare for the start of the Premier League campaign against Tottenham on Aug. 8.

Van Gaal is set to give young players an opportunity as United will begin their tour without the injured Javier Hernandez, plus Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo, who helped Argentina reach the Copa America final.

"In the first two matches I will play all the players at the highest for 45 minutes because we have to adapt to that new situation," Van Gaal told MUTV. "They have three weeks holiday, in some cases more. A lot of youngsters will also have the possibility to step into those kind of matches.

"The Barcelona and PSG games are the third and fourth matches and at that point we will play with certain players for 60 minutes and 30 minutes. It will also be good to see where we stand then against the level of those kinds of teams.

"It can also say nothing about that though because last year we won every [preseason] game with big figures, good results and attractive football. For me the most important match is the first match of the Premier League."

Van Gaal, who spent two spells in charge at the Camp Nou, is looking forward to a reunion with Barcelona and particularly with players like Andres Iniesta, a survivor of his days at the club.

"It is nice to see friends of your period," he added. "Barcelona play still with players that I have coached so that is nice, but also a lot of the staff has remained there."
