Robin van Persie's agent plays down Fenerbahce reports

Robin van Persie's agent has played down reports that he is close to finalising a deal that will see the Manchester United striker join Turkish side Fenerbahce.

It was reported on Saturday that Van Persie's adviser, Kees Vos, had been in Turkey to iron out the fine details of a move for the 31-year-old forward, but he denied that was the case.

Vos told Voetball International: "If Robin had found a new club, we would have announced it.

"All I can say is that tomorrow [Monday], Robin will be back at Manchester United to report for the first training session."

Voss was also asked whether Fenerbahce had made attempts to sign Van Persie but declined to make any comment on the rumours.

Van Persie will be joined at United's Carrington training base on Monday morning by Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, who has confirmed that he will report for training as planned after a summer of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

"I have to return to Manchester for preseason," De Gea told Spanish television channel Cuatro when asked about a move to Madrid.

De Gea declined to make any comment on his future at United.

ESPN FC sources confirmed on Friday that United will demand a world-record fee for a keeper if they are to agree to a deal for De Gea to move this summer.
