Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal put a positive spin on a pair of United injuries in Saturday's 2-1 defeat of Crystal Palace.
Left-back Luke Shaw was struck in the face by an elbow from James McArthur in the first half, and was forced to come off for Jonny Evans after 40 minutes as a result of the clash.
Wayne Rooney's day was also cut short at Selhurst Park. The captain appeared to pick up a thigh injury toward the end of the first half. After the break, Rooney emerged from the dressing room, attempted to warm up, but was replaced Radamel Falcao before the restart.
"It was very bad because our team was out of balance," Van Gaal told MUTV after the game. "Phil Jones had to play as a left full-back. Rooney has a dead leg so I had to change things that were not in our favour at that time but, still these in circumstances, we fought until the end and we have beaten Crystal Palace.
"Shaw took an elbow and had a bloody nose, but he went to the hospital and I have already heard that he shall fly home with us so I don't think it is very bad," he continued. "Out of precaution, we took him off. Rooney had a dead leg so next week he is healthy and fit to play."
