Radamel Falcao eager for first Manchester United goal

Radamel Falcao has set his sights on opening his Manchester United account at Leicester on Sunday after savouring his debut for his new club.

The Colombia international striker, who has joined United on a season-long loan from Monaco, came off the bench in the 4-0 win over QPR on Sunday.

And he felt it was a privilege to play at United's home ground for the first time, saying: "It felt good to make my debut here, at Old Trafford, and I am happy to get the win. I am enjoying this moment.

"It is an extraordinary stadium, a legendary stadium. I am very happy for this victory and the support was great. I want to continue that way."

The 28-year-old was denied a first United strike by QPR goalkeeper Robert Green, who made a fine double save to deny first Daley Blind and then Falcao from the rebound.

And now he is aiming to break his duck in the colours of his new club when United go to Leicester at the weekend.

He added: "It was fantastic. I almost scored. The goalkeeper was good. I hope to score the next game."

Falcao was grateful to the United supporters for giving him a rapturous reception, saying: "I want to say thank you to them and I enjoyed that a lot."

The former Porto and Atletico Madrid forward was one of three United players to make debuts against QPR, along with Blind and Marcos Rojo, while two other summer signings, Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera, played their second games for the club.

And Falcao believes Louis van Gaal's new-look team will improve as they get used to lining up alongside each other.

He added: "Bit by bit we will gel together as a team and the new players will feel more comfortable. I hope everything continues for us like it has done [against QPR]."
