Manchester City target Ederson has 'very good' first impression with club

Manchester City transfer target Ederson has hinted his move to the Etihad is complete, indicating that he had a "very good" first impression with the club.

The Brazil international, 23, is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations with Pep Guardiola's side, as the former Barcelona manager looks for an upgrade to Claudio Bravo, who was disappointing in his first season with City.

Ederson was seen in Manchester earlier in the week ahead of his medical with the club, and seemed to suggest on Wednesday that his move has gone through.

"I'm very happy!" the former Sao Paulo youth product told A Bola upon returning to Lisbon.

"The first impressions were very good."

The Brazilian played in Benfica's Portuguese Cup final triumph on Sunday and said after the match: "This was probably my last game for Benfica."

A deal for the 23-year-old was deemed complicated with claims of third-party ownership which needed to be resolved, with his economic rights shared between Benfica, former club Rio Ave and Gestifute.

However, sources told ESPN FC that City could potentially pay more than the £33 million world-record fee for a goalkeeper paid by Juventus for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001.
