Man City accept anti-doping charge from FA after 'whereabouts' rule violation

Manchester City have accepted a charge relating to anti-doping, a club spokesperson told ESPN FC.

Earlier this month, the Football Association charged City with an alleged third violation of rules concerning "club whereabouts" in the space of 12 months.

The FA gave City until 4 p.m. on Friday to respond to the claims, and they chose to accept them.

No specific details have been given regarding the charge. but a source said it is one of misconduct relating to the club rather than a particular individual.

Clubs are required to keep the FA informed of the location of their players in order to carry out drug-testing. A "three-strike" policy is operated, meaning a charge is only triggered after three infringements in the space of a rolling one-year period.

The FA will now set a date for an independent regulatory commission to hear the case in due course. The case is expected to be heard during the next two weeks.

City are expected to be given a fine for any infringement rather than a more serious punishment.

The club were initially given until Jan. 19 to respond but requested additional time to consider the matter.
