Man City's Claudio Bravo 'calm as always' in face of recent criticism

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo says he pays no attention to the critics after coming under fire since his summer move from Barcelona.

Bravo, who replaced England No. 1 Joe Hart as first-choice keeper at the Etihad Stadium, has kept just three clean sheets in the Premier League.

He conceded seven goals in successive defeats to Chelsea and Leicester City earlier this month but he says the players must expect criticism when they lose.

"When you have bad results they speculate about other types of things, they look for the negatives, but we've always been calm here, we've always believed in the manager, believed in the work and believed in ourselves," Bravo, 33, told reporters.

"We showed that [in the 2-1 win over Arsenal] and we played the game that the manager wanted.

"I'm calm as always. This is a collective effort. When things don't go well it's everybody's responsibility and when you get [good] results it's exactly the same. We will see at the end of the season if the work has paid off."

The Chile international is set for a busy Christmas with City facing three games in seven days, including a trip to title rivals Liverpool on New Year's Eve.

Bravo was used to a short break with previous clubs Barca and Real Sociedad in La Liga but he says he is not concerned about the Christmas demands in the Premier League.

"It doesn't really matter where you spend Christmas. The most important thing is to be with your family and the rest doesn't really matter," he added.

"Here we have a lot of things to do, at the club we have got things planned for these days.

"It's going to be something new for us as a family, but if we're all together it's going to go very well."

Bravo says City must now build on back-to-back victories against Watford and Arsenal to put the pressure on leaders Chelsea.

"If we do things well and we get back to our best performances, we're going to make things very complicated for any team to take points off us at our stadium," he said.

"It just depends on maintaining our level, on defending well and attacking the right way."
