Manchester City's Nolito vows to address disciplinary issues

MANCHESTER -- Nolito has said he must address his disciplinary problems after being fortunate to escape a second red card of the season as Manchester City won at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Earlier in the season, Nolito was banned for three games after being sent off for a headbutt in the final minute of the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth.

The forward was involved in a similar incident in the 4-0 win at The Hawthorns, but was only booked for a clash with defender Craig Dawson.

"I had no intention to hurt any other player and obviously I have to show an example and set an example for other children and players," he told a news conference. "Hopefully it won't happen again."

Nolito faces his former club in the Champions League on Tuesday, with City looking to wipe out the memory of a 4-0 drubbing at the Camp Nou in which goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was sent off.

And coach Pep Guardiola said his players would need to improve their discipline and play a "perfect game" to win.

"You always have to learn from these kind of things," Guardiola told a news conference.

"It's always difficult to win Champions League games, it's always difficult to win against Barcelona 11 against 11. Ten against 11 is almost impossible.

"At that level it is impossible to achieve your target [with 10 men]. But football is a game of mistakes and sometimes you have to some situations and we have to improve on that."

Nolito said he believed City would need to beat Barcelona to qualify for the round of 16, having taken four points from their first three games.

"We have to win this one," he said. "If we want to qualify for the next round we need a win.

"We know that the Champions League is difficult. We have to do all we can to qualify in these last three games. We'll prepare the best we can."
