Vincent Kompany, Kevin De Bruyne could be back for Barca - Guardiola

GLASGOW -- Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne could be back for the Champions League clash with Barcelona after being ruled out for two to three weeks.

The Manchester City skipper injured his groin late in the EFL Cup victory over Swansea City last Wednesday while De Bruyne injured his hamstring three days later in the Premier League victory over the same opponents.

The Belgian pair are currently in Barcelona receiving treatment with specialist Dr Ramon Cugat.

City boss Pep Guardiola said they do not have "big problems" and could return for the Champions League game at the Nou Camp on Oct. 19.

Speaking ahead of City's Group C match with Celtic on Wednesday, Guardiola said: "They are injured, unfortunately they are not here but we are going to do our best to recover them as soon as possible.

"It's not a big, big injury, so I think in a short time -- two, three, three-and-a-half weeks -- both will be ready to be with us.

"Dr Cugat is the best doctor in the world, in the world. We are so lucky when you have a problem to travel to Barcelona and know his opinion, his update, and make the treatment.

"They went there to visit and today or tomorrow morning they will come back to Manchester."

Guardiola has the chance to take a big step towards qualification for the Champions League knockout stage if they can secure their 11th successive victory of the season at Celtic Park.

City won their opening game 4-0 against German side Borussia Monchengladbach while Celtic were thrashed 7-0 at Barca.

However, the City boss said he is expecting a difficult clash particularly with close to 60,000 home fans creating an intimidating atmosphere.

"It's my first time in Glasgow, playing against Celtic. Everyone talks to me about the atmosphere, I'm looking forward to playing here," he added.

"I know how strong they are here. I spoke with my old players and they have said this is a special environment.

"We've started well and tomorrow we have a big opportunity to step forward. This group is so tough. I'm so happy with the performance against Gladbach but it is just one game."
