MANCHESTER, England -- Pep Guardiola says Manchester City have bought goals after securing Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus.
The 19-year-old joined City in a £27m deal earlier this month but will remain on loan with Brazilian club Palmeiras until January.
Gabriel is currently at the Rio Olympics and has scored three times as the hosts remain on course for their first football men's gold medal when they play Germany in the final on Saturday.
Guardiola has only seen highlights of Brazil's performances but has been impressed by his new signing.
"He is little bit like Kelechi [Iheanacho] and Sergio [Aguero]," the Spaniard said at his news conference ahead of his side's game with Stoke City on Saturday.
"When the ball is there, it's a goal. He has the sense of goal. So we buy goals. It's not easy today. And he's a guy who worked real movements behind the line. When you have the players like [Raheem] Sterling, Jesus, these players going behind the line, it can create more space in the middle.
"Without the movement of the strikers, the movement behind the line, you cannot find the players in the middle. He's a young player, who can play on the wing with good movements to the goal."
Gabriel has already been compared to Brazil teammate Neymar. But Guardiola played down the comparisons and says he will be able to develop further at City's £200m state-of-the-art Etihad Academy, where the pressure on him will be less intense.
"I hear most of the players are the new Messi, I know [the comparisons to Neymar] doesn't help him," added Guardiola.
"Neymar is already a player. For Jesus, it's the first time he goes to Europe. But here is going to find a good environment, quiet, to work every day, it will not be a lot of problems.
"We will be there to help him. If he wants to be helped, we are going to help him."
