Man City handed UEFA charge over Champions League fireworks vs. PSG

Manchester City have been hit with a UEFA charge after their fans set off fireworks in the Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

Kevin De Bruyne hit the winner as Manchester City claimed a place in the semifinals with a 3-2 aggregate win over the French champions. But, while City fans have attracted attention for booing the Champions League anthem before games, the club have also been hit with disciplinary action over the use of pyrotechnics.

A statement from UEFA read: "Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League second-leg quarter final between Manchester City FC and Paris Saint-Germain (1-0) played on 12 April in England.

"Charges against Manchester City FC: - Setting off of fireworks - Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations."

The case will be heard by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 19.
