Manchester City get Joe Hart boost, Yaya Toure ruled out vs. PSG

PARIS -- Goalkeeper Joe Hart is set to return for Manchester City's Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain after recovering from a calf injury.

However, midfielder Yaya Toure did not travel with the squad to France for the first leg of their quarterfinal tie against the Ligue 1 champions.

Both players missed Manchester City's 4-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, but England keeper Hart, who limped off in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on March 20, trained with the first-team squad on Tuesday morning and has been passed fit to play.

Toure, though, has been ruled out after failing to recover from a knee problem that has troubled him for the past month.

"Hart has worked without any problem in the last day. He has had medical and physical tests and has no problems to play," City boss Manuel Pellegrini told a news conference. "Yaya has a problem with his knee so he is not able to play."

Meanwhile, Pellegrini played down suggestions that PSG will start the game as favourites and rates City's chances as "50-50."

"Both teams have options to continue to the next stage -- the options are 50 percent for each team," he said. "It's important for the club, the fans, the players. Last season we couldn't continue as we faced Barcelona. Now we've improved this season. We know it's a difficult game we face, but we believe we have a chance to continue.

"Kevin De Bruyne is always an important player for us. We are not coming to Paris to draw 0-0. We'll play our usual way. Kevin is someone who has goals, so we'll see if he's able to play the full 90 minutes."

Samir Nasri, who made his first appearance for nearly five months as a late substitute in the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at the weekend, is also unable to play. Pellegrini dropped him from his Champions League squad in January -- replacing him with Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

City skipper Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling are also missing for the first leg with a calf strain and groin injury respectively.
