Man City's David Silva 'unlikely' to play vs. Sevilla after missing training

David Silva is a doubt for Manchester City's Champions League clash with Sevilla after missing training on Monday.

Silva, 29, has missed City's last five games after suffering an ankle sprain while playing for Spain in the 4-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win against Luxembourg on Oct. 9.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini said on Friday that the World Cup winner was still feeling some pain in his ankle as he waited to see if it would improve before Tuesday's clash with Sevilla.

But while Gael Clichy and Fabian Delph moved closer to comebacks by taking part in training in Manchester on Monday, Silva was absent.

City's official website confirmed Silva was missing and added he is "unlikely to travel [to Spain] later today."

City, who beat Sevilla 2-1 last month, will definitely be without the injured trio of Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri, as well as the ineligible Kelechi Iheanacho.

Clichy is yet to make a first-team appearance this season after undergoing ankle surgery, while summer signing Delph has had two hamstring injuries since his £8 million move from Aston Villa.

The England international had been pencilled in to return against his former club on Sunday but could now be in contention for a Champions League debut.
