Sergio Aguero supports boss Manuel Pellegrini amid Pep Guardiola rumours

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been backed by striker Sergio Aguero after Pep Guardiola was again linked with the manager's job at the club.

Bayern Munich manager Guardiola has been tipped to replace Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium next summer, but the Chilean recently signed a new deal that keeps him under contract until 2017.

Aguero helped Pellegrini, who won the Premier League title in 2014, return to the top of the table by scoring five goals in Saturday's 6-1 win over Newcastle.

And the Argentinian said he has a good relationship with the manager, who has claimed he is the third best player in the world behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aguero told reporters: "I'm very good with Manuel Pellegrini, we talk a lot. I'm happy in the team and with him, but the club will be the one who chooses who comes in."

City's chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain both worked with Guardiola at Barcelona.

The double Champions League-winning manager has admirers at the Etihad Stadium and reports in Spain suggested he is being lined up to take over next summer.

But Aguero shrugged off rumours, saying: "It has been talked about a lot. I don't know him, but he's a great manager and it's wonderful to have the best managers train you."

Guardiola's current contract with Bundesliga leaders Bayern expires in 2016.
