Man City defender Dedryck Boyata set to seal Celtic move

Dedryck Boyata has arrived in Glasgow ahead of a proposed move from Manchester City to Celtic.

Boyata, 24, will reportedly cost the Scottish champions £1.5 million and, after returning from City's postseason tour of the United States and Canada, promptly headed north to tie up the deal.

The Belgian defender is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2016 but admitted in April that he wanted to leave this summer to get first-team football.

He has been on City's books for six years, but has only made six appearances last season and began one league game. Indeed, he has only played 28 times for City in between loan spells with FC Twente and Bolton and owed his place in their squad last season to his status as their only senior player who qualified as "homegrown."

Now Boyata could be replaced as City's fourth-choice centre-back by his fellow Belgian Jason Denayer, who spent last season on loan at Celtic.

The 19-year-old, who is already a full international, won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in Scotland as he helped Celtic retain the SPL title.
