Pellegrini plays down Samir Nasri summer exit, talks U.S.-Canada tour

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini tried to extinguish talk that the club will sell midfielder Samir Nasri, who has failed to replicate his form last season, in the summer.

"He's just renewed his contract," he added. "He has a contract here for five years."

Nasri's deal, which was agreed last summer, runs until 2019 but the former Arsenal player, who has a muscle problem, will miss Saturday's game against Aston Villa.

Pellegrini also confirmed that City will take all their stars to the U.S. and Canada when they embark on a postseason tour of North America.

City are yet to confirm dates and venues but they are expected to play in Toronto and Ohio and attend a match of their sister club, New York City FC, following the end of the Premier League campaign.

But it will add to the workload of their internationals, many of whom played in last summer's World Cup.

And their South Americans could face a busy summer with Argentinians Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Martin Demichelis and Brazilian Fernandinho waiting to discover if they will be called up by their countries for the Copa America.

Whether or not they are, however, Pellegrini confirmed they will cross the Atlantic with City, saying in a news conference: "The complete squad will travel. They have to rest but it will be after they finish the postseason tour."

City last went on a postseason tour of the United States in 2013, when they played in New York and St. Louis.
