Man City striker Wilfried Bony returns to training

Wilfried Bony has returned to training as Manchester City's striking options are set to increase.

Bony has missed City's last three matches with an ankle problem but could be in contention for Saturday's match against Aston Villa.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini only had two fit strikers, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, available for Sunday's 2-0 win over West Ham as both Bony and Stevan Jovetic were sidelined.

Ivory Coast international Bony has only started two games for City since his £25 million move from Swansea in January because of the African Nations Cup, Pellegrini's selections and injury.

The 26-year-old, who was the leading scorer in the Premier League in 2014, has scored one goal in seven games for his new club.

James Milner was also pictured in training at City's Etihad Campus, although it remains to be seen if the England international, who has not featured since the 4-2 defeat to Manchester United, will be fit enough to face his former club Villa.

David Silva was training, without wearing a mask, after scans showed he did not fracture his cheekbone in a collision with West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.

City were also without Vincent Kompany and Gael Clichy against the Hammers and, while the captain may not play again this season, Pellegrini is expected to provide an update on Friday if the left-back, Milner and Jovetic will be able to return.
