Bacary Sagna has no regrets over signing for Manchester City

Bacary Sagna has insisted he did not make a mistake in joining Manchester City, despite his struggle to get a place in Manuel Pellegrini's team.

The France international has started only eight Premier League games since swapping Arsenal for City last summer.

Sagna made 276 appearances in his seven years at Emirates Stadium, averaging almost 30 league starts per season, but has been unable to displace Pablo Zabaleta as City's first-choice right-back.

When asked if he made a mistake opting to move to the Etihad on a free transfer, he told the Manchester Evening News: "No, not at all. I see a lot of comments from fans saying I should have stayed at Arsenal but if I had to do it again, if I had to come back and sign for City, I would have done it again."

Sagna, who has a contract with City until the summer of 2017, is not concerning himself with his lack of minutes on the pitch.

"I didn't think about it to be honest," the 32-year-old added. "When I signed I just wanted to come, give the maximum, and give my best for the club then after, it's life, no?

"I got used to playing every game with Arsenal and here I expected good competition because we have some top quality players.

"Here the squad is very big, so I expected the situation, I expected the rotation and what's happened, so I'm not surprised."
