Pellegrini disappointed after Champions League exit (2:00)

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was left deflated after his side was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Barcelona on Wednesday night. (2:00)

Ajax manager Frank de Boer would be interested in taking over at Manchester City, according to his brother, but not this year.

Former Ajax and Barcelona midfielder Ronald de Boer said the post at the Etihad Stadium appeals to his sibling, but that the 44-year-old will remain in his native Netherlands for another year.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini's position is expected to come under scrutiny in the summer after their Champions League exit increased the probability they will end the season without silverware.

Pellegrini signed a three-year deal when joined City in 2013 and has insisted his future will not depend simply on whether he wins a trophy this season.

And Ronald de Boer said his brother, who won the Dutch league in each of his first four seasons as Ajax manager, would be available and willing to consider City, as well as former club Barcelona, in 14 months' time.

"Frank would be interested in managing Manchester City in the future," he told talkSPORT. "He's already said he will stay at Ajax until 2016. If Manchester City or Barcelona come for him he will still stay [at Ajax]. After that [2016], he is ready to take on a job like that."

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, who worked with City chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain at Barcelona, has ruled out leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

Real Madrid's Carlo Ancelotti is the bookmakers' favourite to be named the next City manager, followed by Diego Simeone, but the Argentine is close to agreeing a new contract with Atletico Madrid.
