Wilfried Bony concerned Manchester City might not catch Chelsea

Wilfried Bony admitted it could be hard for Manchester City to get close to league leaders Chelsea after their defeat at Liverpool.

The 2-1 loss at Anfield leaves City five points behind Jose Mourinho's team but the Capital One Cup winners now have a game in hand.

And new signing Bony, who came off the bench to make his third appearance for City, feels his side are making life unnecessarily tough for themselves.

"We are disappointed, what can I say?" he said on the club's official website. "We are making it difficult for ourselves now, and if Chelsea keep winning it will be hard for us to get close to them.

"There are 11 more games, and we have to keep winning our games and hope they drop some points.

"We gave ourselves too much to do, but now it is the same for the rest of the games -- we need to win and win and hope they slip."

City have overturned eight- and nine-point deficits to win the league in 2012 and 2014 and Bony added: "It's a difficult moment for us, but there is still hope. We believe but every game is different and now we just have to take every game step by step and hope."
