Toronto FC's Greg Vanney has been named MLS Coach of the Year for 2017 after leading TFC to an historic season.
Vanney's made history this campaign, breaking the MLS record for points in the regular season previously held by the 1998 LA Galaxy.
A draw against Atlanta United on the final matchday pushed Toronto to 69 points, one above the 68 points set by the Galaxy almost 20 years ago.
In addition to the points record, Toronto have won the Canadian Championship and Supporters' Shield in 2017, and are still alive in the MLS Cup playoffs, where they will host Columbus Crew SC in the Eastern Conference final second leg on Wednesday.
Vanney, who has been with Toronto since 2014, won 26 percent of the player vote, 44 percent of the club vote, and 40 percent of the media vote to edge second-place finisher Gerardo "Tata" Martino of Atlanta United.
Rounding out the top six vote-getters were Chicago Fire's Veljko Paunovic, New York City FC's Patrick Vieira, Vancouver Whitecaps' Carl Robinson and Columbus' Gregg Berhalter.
FC Dallas boss Oscar Pareja won the award last year.
