New England Revs owner Kraft 'intrigued' by Premier League

New England Revolution owner Robert Kraft said he is "intrigued" by the prospect of owning a Premier League club.

Kraft, 76, also owns the NFL's New England Patriots and was linked with the purchase of Liverpool in 2005 before the club was ultimately sold to fellow Americans George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

Speaking to the BBC, Kraft said: "I like to win at whatever I do. But without a salary cap I'm concerned that we might be at a disadvantage.

"We helped found MLS in America. Our league here is starting to really develop, and with our soccer team we've gone to the championship game five times in 21 years."

However, Kraft, who was an original owner in MLS when the league began play in 1996, admitted that any ownership group he led might be at a competitive disadvantage because of a lack of familiarity with the game in England's top flight.

"I'm just concerned in the Premier League that we might not, with all the different ways of operating, we're not as familiar with all of them.

"Let's say people from all over the world come in and buy teams and maybe they have different reasons for doing it and managing it."

"And you have to compete with that and I'm not sure. But I'm still intrigued."
