Dynamo stun Union with late free kick; Impact rally to beat Revs

Cristian Maidana scored from a free kick deep into stoppage time to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union, his former team, on Saturday.

Maidana curled a 20-yard shot over the wall and under the bar in the fifth and final minute of stoppage time after the Union's Josh Yaro was sent off with a second yellow card in the 87th minute.

The Dynamo snapped a five-game MLS winless streak but remain at the bottom of the Western Conference despite beating the best team in the East.

C.J. Sapong returned for Philadelphia after missing the past month with an ankle injury.

Michael Salazar scored his first two MLS goals in his first start to help the Montreal Impact rally for a 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Kei Kamara scored twice, his first MLS goals in six games since moving to New England from Columbus in May, to put the Revs 2-0 up by the 33rd minute.

But the 23-year-old Salazar, starting in place of the injured Didier Drogba, got Montreal on the scoreboard in the 40th minute and then tied it three minutes into the second half.

Ignacio Piatti scored the eventual winner from the penalty spot with his 10th goal of the season after he was tripped by Revs keeper Brad Knighton in the 54th minute.

Jordan Morris scored to help the Seattle Sounders salvage a 1-1 draw on the road against Toronto FC.

Toronto took the lead on the hour mark after Sebastian Giovinco corralled a long pass at the top of the box. His shot was saved, but the rebound fell nicely for Jordan Hamilton to score in his second straight game.

But Morris leveled the score a minute later after a fine turn in the box with a curling shot past Toronto keeper Alex Bono.

It was Morris' sixth goal of the year, but the Sounders still have only one win in their past seven games.
