Will Johnson's stoppage-time goal helped Toronto FC steal the Canadian Championship from the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.
The Caps were cruising to a second consecutive Voyageurs Cup thanks to strikes from Nicolas Mezquida and defender Tim Parker, but Johnson's 94th-minute goal handed TFC the win on away goals after the two-legged tie finished 2-2 on aggregate.
The win secured Toronto's spot in the 2017-18 CONCACAF Champions League as Canada's lone representative.
Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted and defender Kendall Waston were at fault for the goal, colliding in mid-air and leaving a free ball for Johnson to turn into an empty net.
"When the ball was in the air I had a good feeling that it might bounce or something was going to happen," Johnson told reporters.
"I just wanted a look. I put my foot through it and tried to connect well with it. Obviously it happened at a great moment for us and the club."
Nicolas Mezquida scored two minutes after coming on at halftime to erase Toronto's 1-0 lead from the first leg, and Tim Parker put Vancouver on top in the 68th minute, but the final goal flipped the script.
