Wright-Phillips sets MLS fastest hat trick record as Red Bulls beat Toronto

Bradley Wright-Phillips scored the fastest hat trick in MLS history in the New York Red Bulls' 3-0 win over  Toronto FC on Saturday.

Wright-Phillips scored all three goals inside the first half-hour for New York, who followed up last week's 7-0 trouncing of NYCFC to move into second place in the Eastern Conference.

He opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a header following Sacha Kljestan's free kick. Kljestan earned another assist in the 25th minute when he played through Wright-Phillips and the Englishman fired in a low shot at the near post.

He completed his hat trick two minutes later when he was first to Mike Grella's low cross and scored from eight yards out.

MLS leading scorer Sebastian Giovinco left with an injury in the first half, just days after not being selected for Italy's Euro 2016 squad despite scoring eight goals in his first 12 games.

Toronto FC now appears set to play without him anyway as the club confirmed he suffered an adductor injury in the 22nd minute, though coach Greg Vanney said after the game, "It doesn't look like anything significant for Sebastian."

The Red Bulls' Gonzalo Veron was sent off for a two-footed challenge shortly before half-time, but without any of their top three stars -- Jozy Altidore is also hurt and Michael Bradley is with the U.S. national team -- Toronto FC could not mount a comeback.

Didier Drogba scored from a long, last-gasp free kick to give the Montreal Impact a 3-2 win and end the LA Galaxy's nine-game unbeaten streak.

Giovani dos Santos opened the scoring in the eighth minute after defender Maxim Tissot misplayed a ball off his back and the Mexico international tapped home, but Montreal were back level through Ignacio Piatti in the 26th.

Lucas Ontivero scored his first MLS 10 minutes after halftime, only for Mike Magee to answer for LA two minutes later.

But Drogba was Montreal's hero when Galaxy keeper Brian Rowe failed to handle his 30-yard free kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Brian Carroll tied the game in 92nd minute and the Philadelphia Union escaped with a 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids in a showdown of the Western and Eastern conference leaders.

The game was goalless until the 87th minute, when the Rapids took the lead on a header from Sam Cronin, who made a deep run to connect with Marlon Hairston's cross from the right flank, redirecting it into the far corner of the goal.

But five minutes later, Carroll ran underneath Fabian Herbers' high-arching header and slotted the finish under goalkeeper Zac MacMath from close range.

The Union extended their unbeaten streak to seven while the Rapids stayed unbeaten in their nine home games this season.

Ola Kamara scored his first MLS goal and added two more for a hat trick in Columbus Crew SC's 4-3 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Luke Mulholland opened the scoring in the 13th minute for RSL with a 20-yard shot into the upper-right corner, but Kamara netted his first goal to tie it in the 17th minute, finishing Justin Meram's cross through the six-yard box with a sliding, right-footed finish.

Justin Glad's own goal 3 minutes later gave Crew SC a 2-1 lead, and Kamara scored his second and third goals on headers in the 64th and 74th minutes to supply a 4-1 lead.

Jordan Allen scored in the 78th minute and Joao Plata in the 84th to pull Real Salt Lake within one goal, but the visitors couldn't find an equaliser.

The New England Revolution's rookie super-sub Femi Hollinger-Janzen scored his second goal in three games to supply a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders.

Seattle, playing without stars Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez, took the lead in the seventh minute when Aaron Kovar scored his first professional goal after controlling the ball following a weak clearance by Revs keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

The Revs equalised through a Lee Nguyen penalty in the 24th minute after Erik Friberg handled the ball in the box, and it stayed level until four minutes after Hollinger-Janzen enterned the game in the 76th.

The rookie took a pass from Nguyen and maintained his balance before firing a low shot inside the post.

DaMarcus Beasley scored as the Houston Dynamo managed a draw in the first game without coach Owen Coyle, 1-1 at the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Coyle resigned on Wednesday with Houston in last place in the Western Conference, leaving the team in the hands of assistants Wade Barrett, Paul Caffrey and Paul Rogers.

Beasley opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a fine run into the box before unleashing a hard shot past David Ousted.

Both teams had a player sent off in the 43rd minute as Houston's Alex threw a punch and kicked at Vancouver midfielder Pedro Morales, who kicked back, and referee Drew Fischer gave both red cards.

Octavio Rivero tied it for Vancouver in the 53rd minute, settling down a loose ball, then booming a right-footed shot from about 10 yards out that twisted into the net past the outstretched fingers of goalkeeper Tyler Deric.

David Accam scored for the first time in more than two months to help the Chicago Fire draw 1-1 with the Portland Timbers on Saturday night.

Accam, who missed six games because of a knee injury and was suspended for a seventh, redirected a low cross from Kenney Igboananike into the net to tie it in the 20th minute.

Diego Valeri had put the Timbers in front about two minutes earlier, side-netting a right footer after winning an errant clearance.

The Fire remain last in MLS with 11 points and 10 goals.

FC Dallas' Chris Seitz blocked Tommy Thompson's header in the 88th minute, and San Jose's David Bingham stopped Matt Hedges' left-footed shot in the 90th in Saturday night's 0-0 draw.

Both goalkeepers finished with two saves.

The Earthquakes had many key players missing from their lineup, including Chris Wondolowski, Simon Dawkins, Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero because of Copa America call-ups.

FC Dallas stayed one point behind the Colorado Rapids for the overall lead in the MLS standings.

San Jose and FC Dallas played to a 2-2 draw in their first meeting of the season on April 9.
