D.C. United's Andrew Dykstra needs back surgery, out 10-12 weeks

D.C. United goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra will have back surgery and miss the next 10-12 weeks, the MLS club announced on Thursday.

Dykstra, 30, will have microdiscectomy surgery to repair a herniated disk this week.

He starting United's first three games this season in place of Bill Hamid, who is recovering from knee surgery and will not return until late April at the earliest.

Travis Worra made his first MLS start on Saturday in D.C.'s goalless draw at the New England Revolution on Saturday.

The club could also turn to Charlie Horton, who joined the team this month after moving from Leeds United in England.
