Union trade keeper Zac MacMath to Rapids in permanent deal

Goakeeper Zac MacMath will remain with the Colorado Rapids on a permanent basis next season after spending 2015 on loan from the Philadelphia Union.

The two franchises worked out a trade on Friday in which the Rapids sent their second-round pick in the 2017 to the Union for MacMath, who signed a new contract with Colorado.

MacMath played just three MLS games last season while backing up Clint Irwin.

"Although he did not get that many minutes last season, Zac impressed us with his ability and his professionalism," said Rapids vice president Paul Bravo. "The deal makes economic sense for us and he'll add good depth to our goalkeeping position."
