Didier Drogba recorded a hat trick in his first Major League Soccer start to rally the Montreal Impact to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.
The former Chelsea star, who completed his move to MLS in late July, opened the scoring with his first goal for his new club in the 27th minute. The striker brought the ball down in the box then turned and fired into the far post.
The Fire, who tried to sign the Ivorian first before trading his rights to Montreal, rallied to take a 3-2 lead on Kennedy Igboananike's goal in the 59th minute.
But Drogba equalized two minutes later from a quick restart and then gave his side the lead for good five minutes later with a header from close range.
Drogba, who had only made one substitute appearance to this point, is the first player to tally a hat trick within his first two career MLS games.
After Drogba's opener, Jeff Larentowicz tied the game with a penalty, and Wandrille Lefevre briefly gave the Impact the lead again before Gilberto leveled the score at 2 a minute later.
Clint Dempsey scored in the second half to give the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 win over Toronto FC.
Both Dempsey and Toronto's Michael Bradley skipped the United States' win over Peru on Friday to play in Saturday's MLS game instead, but it was Dempsey's side who came away with the three points.
In the sixth minute, Dempsey played a ball over the top to Obafemi Martins, who scored his 10th goal of the season to give Seattle an early lead.
Eriq Zavaleta equalized for Toronto FC with a header following a corner kick just before the hour mark.
But the Sounders found the winner in the 77th minute when Martins broke through on goal. TFC keeper Chris Konopka rushed out to stop him but the ball fell to Dempsey to chip home from the top of the box.
Seattle played without coach Sigi Schmid, who missed the game due to an undisclosed health issue.
Conor Casey scored twice to rally the Philadelphia Union to a 2-1 win, the club's first on the road at the San Jose Earthquakes.
San Jose took the lead on Chris Wondolowski's penalty in the 64th minute, but Casey scored a pair of headers in the 74th and 86th minutes to give the Union three points in their playoff chase.
Diego Fagundez scored late in the first half, and the New England Revolution pulled away to beat Orlando City 3-0.
The Revolution had a number of chances throughout the first half, and Fagundez finally capitalized in the 43rd minute with a two-touch finish of Lee Nguyen's chip cross.
Agudelo tapped in the end of a four-pass combination to double New England's lead in the 84th minute.
Chris Tierney capped the scoring with a left-footed blast in the final minute.
Orlando City struggled to maintain possession with Cyle Larin, Kaka and Darwin Ceren absent because of international duty.
Winless in six matches, Orlando has gone 533 minutes without one of its own players scoring. New England extended its undefeated streak to six with five victories during that stretch.
