Chicago Fire beats New York Red Bulls, Rapids hit late winner vs. Dynamo

Kennedy Igboananike broke a tie in the 73rd minute with his second goal of the game and the Chicago Fire beat New York 3-2 on Wednesday night to end the Red Bulls' six-game undefeated streak.

New York has not won in Chicago since 2005.

After New York's Sacha Kljestan opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 10th minute, Igboananike tied it in the 22nd for Chicago. He slotted Gilberto's through ball inside the far post.

Patrick Nyarko made it 2-1 in the 41st. Gilberto sent in a cross that was chested down by Michael Stephens, and Nyarko swiveled for the finish.

Ronald Zubar tied it at two in the 49th on a trick play. Lloyd Sam started a corner kick with a disguised touch, allowing Kljestan to dribble it out for a centering pass. The deflected ball fell to Zubar's feet for a redirection.

David Accam fed an open Igboananike on a fast break for the winner.

Kevin Doyle headed in the winner in the 79th minute and the Colorado Rapids beat the Houston Dynamo 2-1 on for their first home victory since July 11.

Colorado hasn't lost to Houston since 2009, winning five of the nine meetings.

Doyle climbed over a defender to head home Sean St Ledger's chipped cross. St Ledger started the sequence by running down a loose ball at the line and just got a foot on it before it went out of bounds.

Both teams were whistled for hand balls in the box in the first half, resulting in two penalty-kick goals.

Colorado's Vicente Sanchez started the scoring in the 20th minute after Alex touched the ball during a slide at the edge of the area. It was Colorado's first penalty kick conversion of the season.

Houston's Brad Davis tied it at one in the 37th after Bobby Burling deflected a cross with his hand.
