Clint Dempsey to miss game vs. Galaxy with hamstring injury

Clint Dempsey will miss the Seattle Sounders' game against the LA Galaxy on Sunday with an injured hamstring.

Dempsey has played just once for the Sounders since June after featuring for the United States at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and will now miss the showdown with Seattle's Western Confernce rivals (4 p.m. ET, ESPN/WatchESPN).

After completing his international duties, Dempsey then played in the MLS All-Star Game before returning to play 90 minutes in the Sounders' loss to Vancouver last weekend.

He did not travel on Wednesday as the Sounders sent a young team to face the Whitecaps in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Without Dempsey, the Sounders have lost seven of their last eight league matches and tumbled to sixth in the Western Conference standings.

Dempsey already missed time earlier this season with a hamstring injury, suffered while training with the U.S. in March.
