DC United rally past Chicago Fire on Arrieta brace; Union blank Crew 3-0

Jairo Arrieta scored two goals and D.C. United rolled to a 3-1 comeback victory over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.

Eastern Conference leader United has won two straight since snapping a three-game winless skid, and ran its home unbeaten streak to 20 games, breaking the club record.

David Accam scored in the 28th minute to give the Fire a 1-0 halftime lead, but it was all United in the second half.

Arrieta scored on a header in the 61st minute. United took the lead for good when Arrieta passed the ball to Nick DeLeon, who passed it right back to Arrieta. He scored past diving goalkeeper Jon Busch in the 68th minute. Conor Doyle made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, his first goal since August 2013.

United's leading scorer Chris Rolfe did not play while serving his one-game suspension for kicking Philadelphia Union midfielder Vincent Nogueira in the midsection during Saturday night's game. Rolfe was also fined an undisclosed amount.

United defender Chris Korb, midfielder Chris Pontius and starting goalkeeper Bill Hamid also did not play due to injuries.

Sebastien Le Toux had a goal and an assist to lead the Philadelphia Union to a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night.

The Union snapped a four-game losing streak against the Crew and bounced back after having their two-game winning string snapped against D.C. United on Saturday.

Cristian Maidana passed to Le Toux just outside the six-yard box. Rather than take the shot, Le Toux crossed to C.J. Sapong, who scored his third goal of the season on an easy tap-in past goalkeeper Steve Clark in the 41st minute.

In the second half, Clark slipped while trying to roll the ball outside the box. Instead, he kicked it right to the Union's Nogueira, who chipped it into a wide-open net in the 52nd minute. Le Toux scored his second goal of the season in the 58th minute on an assist by Sheanon Williams.

Columbus is winless in three straight games; it was 3-0 against Philadelphia last season.

Ignacio Piatti scored in the 83rd minute to give the Montreal Impact a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Jack McInerney scored in the first half for the Impact, who have won three of their last four matches.

Pedro Morales scored for Vancouver from the penalty spot four minutes before Piatti got the winner.

With time winding down, Piatti scored his team-leading third goal. Andres Romero spotted Piatti's run in the box, and the Argentine made no mistake with a strike into the corner of the net.

Montreal extended its home win streak to three games, a first for the Impact since August 2012. Jordan Harvey earned the penalty kick for Vancouver after Romero took him down on the edge of the box.
