MLS shift Montreal Impact's league game for Champions League final

Major League Soccer has postponed the Montreal Impact's game against the San Jose Earthquakes previously scheduled for April 25 because of Montreal's involvement in the CONCACAF Champions League final.

The Impact will travel to Mexico to face Club America at the Estadio Azteca in the continental final's first leg on April 22, then return home to host the second leg at Olympic Stadium on April 29.

With a spot in December's Club World Cup on the line, MLS moved their league game to Sept. 16 to allow the Impact to focus on the final.

Montreal is the first Canadian club and only the second MLS team to reach the final since the Champions League format was introduced in 2009. D.C. United in 1998 and the LA Galaxy in 2000 are the only MLS sides to ever win in the previous format, the Champions Cup.

The Impact have already sold more than 20,000 tickets to their home leg at the former home of the Montreal Expos baseball team.
