Real Salt Lake reacquires Jamison Olave in trade with Red Bulls

SANDY, Utah -- Real Salt Lake reacquired defender Jamison Olave from the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday in exchange for allocation money.

Olave had four goals and an assist in 57 games in two seasons with New York.

In five seasons with Salt Lake, he had 10 goals and two assists in 120 games, and helped lead RSL to the 2009 MLS Cup.

He was also named MLS Defender of the Year in 2010.

"This was a difficult decision for the club but was made mainly due to salary cap considerations," said Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh in a statement.

"It's disappointing to see a player like Jamison leave the club, but we want to thank him for his service to the New York Red Bulls and we wish him all the best on his return to his previous club."

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
