Keane to play 2 Ireland friendlies

Robbie Keane is set to play in two of four friendlies with Ireland's national team and will skip the LA Galaxy June 8 match vs. Chivas USA, according to a report.

The Galaxy captain, who has scored seven goals in 10 league games this year, will play on Sunday vs. Chicago. Thanks to an agreement between Galaxy coach Bruce Arena and Ireland manager Martin O'Neill, he'll join Ireland in Philadelphia prior to their June 6 match against Costa Rica.

"It's one of those situations where I just have to sit back and let them discuss it," Keane said. "Because, of course, you want to be in both places and play for both, but, unfortunately, it's the way the schedule has worked out."

Keane will also play for Ireland on June 10 against Portugal in East Rutherford, N.J., but is missing first two Ireland matches (Ireland lost to Turkey, 2-1, and meet Italy on Saturday in London.
