Keane, 33, recently put pen to paper on a new ‘multi-year contract’ with the Los Angeles team and insists he is content with his life and the football he is playing on America’s west coast.

The Republic of Ireland captain enjoyed a successful loan spell with Aston Villa in the build-up to Euro 2012, but has confirmed he has no desire to return to English football permanently.

“With signing a contract I think I can definitely see myself finishing [my career] in America,” said Keane, whose LA Galaxy side lost their first MLS game of the season against Real Salt Lake earlier this month, and were also knocked out of the Concacaf Champions League after losing 4-2 to Tijuana.

“There’d be no point in my, at this stage, going back to England. For what? I’ve scored a lot of goals there, played a lot of games.

“Unless you’re going to go back and play for a team that’s going to win stuff. If not, I don’t see any reason to go back.”

It remains to be seen whether Ireland boss Martin O'Neill will continue to pick Keane as his first-choice striker for the Euro 2016 qualifiers, yet there are a lack of natural replacements to take his spot, with Hull striker Shane Long failing to impress in the recent friendly against Serbia.
