Several Major League Soccer teams are interested in acquiring the services of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney should he leave the Premier League club in the future,  a league source has told ESPN FC.

Rooney, 31, has been linked with a possible move to China having become an increasingly peripheral figure for Jose Mourinho's side, with sources telling ESPN FC on Thursday that his agent, Paul Stretford, had travelled there in part to do "due diligence" over potential destinations....

Major League Soccer is lining up mighty Real Madrid as its opponent for this summer's All-Star Game in Chicago, multiple sources have told ESPN FC.

The deal was not yet final as of last weekend, but an agreement is expected that would have the defending UEFA Champions League winner play a team of top MLS players on Aug. 2 at Soldier Field, the sources said.

Real Madrid would become the first Spanish club to participate in the event.

LA Galaxy to host UK-based tryouts in 2017 for reserve team

Jermaine Jones says the decision to join LA Galaxy was about spending more time with his wife and children.

The LA Galaxy's reserve team will hold open tryouts in England this spring in an attempt to find overlooked talent for the Major League Soccer franchise.

The Galaxy's second string, LA Galaxy II, will take 10 players from the two venues across four days back to Los Angeles to train and complete more assessments. The aim is to increase the talent pool on offer to the team, who currently play in the United Soccer League (USL), and perhaps the first XI.

Sebastian Giovinco's agent has told Sky Sport Italia the Toronto FC forward has turned down the opportunity to move to China "for now."

Agent Andrea D'Amico said last month that former Juventus forward Giovinco, 30, had received "huge offers" from China but he has told Sky: "For now, he has said no.

"The money was not right for Toronto and it wasn't right for him either, but let's see. When you talk about the transfer market, it's always a case of 'for now.'

Jerome Thiesson has joined Minnesota United from FC Luzern.

Swiss defender Jerome Thiesson has joined Minnesota United from FC Luzern to boost their back line ahead of the new Major League Soccer season.

Thiesson, 29, who was previously linked to Toronto FC, has agreed to move to Minnesota, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 visa.

The versatile defender can play as a right-back and left-back, and has plied his trade in Switzerland for clubs like AC Bellinzona, FC Wil and FC Zurich.
