Lyon have made changes to their coaching staff, with their former player Bruno Genesio installed as coach until the end of the season.
OL's return to training on Monday will be under Genesio's charge, according to a statement on the club website which made no mention of incumbent coach Hubert Fournier.
The club will hold a news conference on Monday to outline the new structure.
"The first part of the 2015-16 season of Olympique Lyonnais has been clearly below the aims of the club on a sporting front,'' read the statement.
"Ninth place in the Ligue 1 table, six points from second place and automatic Champions League qualification -- the main aim of the season -- but 13 below the total at this stage of the 2014-15 season.
"Elimination from European competition with fourth place in the group stage of the Champions League and a total of just four points.
"Following numerous consultations, club president Jean-Michel Aulas along with group vice-president Jerome Seydoux decided to modify the organisation of the first-team staff.
"Different theories were investigated [arrival of foreign coaches, French coaches, promotion from within] which led to the decision to entrust, until the end of the season in the first instance, the post of coach to Bruno Genesio, who will take charge from the resumption of training on Monday, Dec. 28.
"Jean-Michel Aulas and Bruno Genesio will hold a press conference on Monday at 4 p.m. [3 p.m. GMT] to outline the details of the new technical structure and explain what is required from the whole squad -- staff and players -- for the second part of the season, both collectively and individually.''
Genesio played for OL from 1984 to 1995, apart from spending the 1993-94 season with Nice, and has been part of the club's backroom staff since 2005.
Fournier was given a new contract in the summer, along with Genesio and several other staff members, after leading Lyon to second place and a sustained title challenge last year. But he was criticised by Aulas even before a dismal preseason had concluded and results have scarcely improved during the campaign proper.
Aulas warned after Sunday's defeat to Gazelec Ajaccio that he would announce "a certain number of changes'' on Monday.
