Lyon coach Hubert Fournier signs new contract

Lyon coach Hubert Fournier and his staff have signed new contracts at the club.

Les Gones finished second in Ligue 1 last season, pushing Paris Saint-Germain until the final two weeks of the title race and comfortably securing qualification for the Champions League group stage.

Fournier, who like many of his coaching staff was coming into the final year of his contract, has been rewarded with an extra 12 months at the helm.

Assistants Bruno Genesio and Gerald Baticle and goalkeeping coach Joel Bats were among the members of his backroom staff to also sign new deals.

"Olympique Lyonnais are happy to announce extensions to the contracts of the staff of Hubert Fournier, whose own contract has been extended by a season to 2017 in light of having qualified for the Champions League," a club statement read.

"Bruno Genesio and Gerald Baticle, assistant coaches since 2006 and 2011 respectively, [extended their contracts] by three years to 2019.

"Joel Bats, who is entering his 16th season with OL, (extended) by a year to 2017.

"Dimitri Farbos and Antonin da Fonseca, fitness trainers who arrived last season, [extended] by two years and one year respectively to 2018.

"Olympique Lyonnais are delighted to continue this collaboration with an organisation composed of skilled coaches attached to the values and identity of the club."
