Lyon welcome back long-injured Clement Grenier, Gueida Fofana

Lyon will finally be able to welcome back Clement Grenier from injury when they take on Bastia on Wednesday.

The midfielder, a reported transfer target for English sides Newcastle and Arsenal in recent seasons, has not played since suffering a groin injury in August and subsequently undergoing surgery.

But coach Hubert Fournier welcomed him back by revealing: "He has trained normally for two weeks and played a good part of a reserve game 10 days ago."

Fellow midfielder Gueida Fofana has been out even longer, having suffered an ankle injury in March of last year, and will also make his first return to a squad missing Christophe Jallet, Yoann Gourcuff and the suspended Lindsay Rose.

Also on Tuesday, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was suspended from all official duties for two matches by the French federation's ethics committee for criticising referees on social media.

Aulas often takes to Twitter to express his views on various aspects of the game or to play mind games with his rivals.

He came under fire after labelling Clement Turpin's refereeing as "appalling" following Lyon's 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season.
