Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas believes Alexandre Lacazette can reach the same level as Karim Benzema but thinks he can achieve that at the Ligue 1 club. (0:37)

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette admitted he would love to stay at Lyon beyond the end of the season and that any decision to see him leave would have to come from the Ligue 1 club.

The 23-year-old France striker has been linked to Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in the past few months despite having signed a contract extension last September to remain at Lyon until the summer of 2018.

Hubert Fournier's side currently top the table with a one-point lead on reigning champions Paris St Germain thanks in part to Lacazette's 26 goals for the club this season.

But when asked about a move away from Lyon, he told L'Equipe: "For now, I'm Lyonnais and under contract but you never know what will happen in the future and this summer.

"This is a discussion that will take place between the president [Jean-Michel Aulas] and myself and we will see then, if I continue or not.

"If the president wants me to go for the good of the club or for other reasons, I will be forced to leave. But I am here at the club and we will see then."

Lacazette came up through the youth ranks at Stade de Gerland before making his debut in July 2010.

The five-cap France international admitted there had been no problems at the club and - on the speculation linking him with a move at the end of the season -- he added: "There are no problems. Everyone knows that in football, every summer, everyone can leave.

"It is not today that we will be surprised if a player leaves the club.

"On your side, you have the feeling that you leave the door open... this is not an open door, it's just reality. Even if all players want to stay a lifetime in a club, at some point, if they push you out, you are forced to get out."

Table-topping Lyon are next in action when they travel to fellow high-flyers Marseille on Sunday.
