LIVERPOOL -- Sadio Mane will start for Liverpool on Saturday afternoon against Southampton, while Joel Matip misses the game through injury.
Mane was a doubt for the Anfield encounter after he was sent home from international duty early when he "slightly felt his old [hamstring] injury," according to the Senegalese Football Federation.
However, following a fitness check on Friday, the 25-year-old has been named in the starting XI and will partner Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in Liverpool's forward line.
Matip, meanwhile, has been ruled out with a "knock" sustained this week, according to Liverpool, and will sit out his first Premier League match of the season.
He had played every minute of Liverpool's league campaign in 2017-18 until Saturday, but will not be risked against Mauricio Pellegrino's side.

Elsewhere, Virgil van Dijk starts for Southampton at Anfield -- the first time he faces Liverpool since they publicly apologised to the Saints amid allegations they tapped up the centre-half.
Full Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
