Clyne omitted from Liverpool UCL squad, Coutinho included

Nathaniel Clyne has been left out of Liverpool's squad for the group stages of the Champions League, with Philippe Coutinho included as part of the 25-man party.

Clyne has not been named in the Champions League squad as he remains sidelined with a back injury.

The right-back missed all of Liverpool's preseason with the issue and is yet to return to full training.

Youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have been deputising in the England international's absence. Danny Ings is also not part of the squad as he returns from a serious knee injury.

Meanwhile, Coutinho has been named in Jurgen Klopp's squad for the Reds' European campaign, which begins on Sept. 13 against Sevilla at Anfield.

The Brazilian attempted to force a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window and has not played in Liverpool's first five matches of the season.

Klopp has previously stated that the playmaker would be welcomed back into his fold, despite handing in a transfer request as Liverpool rejected three offers from Barcelona.

Liverpool maintained that Coutinho would not be sold under any circumstances this summer, in contrast to Barcelona's suggestion that they put a €200 million asking price on the 25-year-old.

Adam Lallana is part of the Champions League squad as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury.

The midfielder has been pictured on crutches after being ruled for the first three months of the season with the setback sustained in a friendly against Atletico Madrid.

Summer signings Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke have all been named in Klopp's squad.

Liverpool were drawn in Group E, alongside Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Slovenian side Maribor.
