Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp concerned about the pitch at Hong Kong Stadium

HONG KONG -- Jurgen Klopp has said he is concerned about the state of the pitch at the Hong Kong Stadium, with the weather continuing to disrupt Liverpool's preparations for the Premier League Asia Trophy.

The torrential rain in Hong Kong forced Liverpool to train indoors on Monday, while plans to hold an open training session at the Hong Kong Stadium on Tuesday were postponed due to the inclement conditions.

A number of Premier League managers raised concerns about the playing surface at the 40,000-capacity stadium in 2013, but sources close to the Premier League say the facilities at the ground are much improved four years on.

When asked at a news conference on Tuesday whether he had concerns about the state of the pitch ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Crystal Palace, Klopp said: "In this moment, yes.

"What can I say? I could say 'no' and then I would lie. Not real concerns because it is football and I think the weather forecast is quite positive for tomorrow.

"The pitch should be better tomorrow. We were there yesterday and the drainage works really well. When it stops raining, I think a few hours later it will be OK.

"Now always in life, you need a little bit of luck. For the game it's not a real problem because both teams will have the same circumstances, so we will see how it looks then. We are out in Hong Kong checking different surfaces for us to train, where we can go and all that stuff.

"This situation is like football, you need to find solutions. We have problems, yes, but nobody cares about problems, you need to find solutions and that's what we are doing.

"We trained yesterday and we will train today wherever. Tomorrow I really hope that the weather will be fine and we can have a really good football game because it's a big tournament and it's obviously big for the Premier League. We want to show the best face, of course. But in football for this, you need a few things -- good players and, if possible, a good pitch also. If it would stop raining then that would be cool."
