Liverpool, Hertha Berlin to play 125th anniversary friendly at Olympiastadion

Liverpool have confirmed plans to play Hertha Berlin in a preseason friendly to celebrate the 125th anniversary of both clubs.

The match will take place at the Olympiastadion in the German capital on July 29 under the motto: "Celebrating football since 1892."

It comes shortly before Liverpool compete in the Audi Cup at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena on August 1-2.

"Not only does this match fit perfectly into our preparations for the upcoming season, but it should also be an unforgettable day for us and especially our fans," Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz told the club's official website.

"Hertha BSC is the oldest club in the Bundesliga and that is exactly what we want to celebrate with our members and fans."

Head coach Pal Dardai added: "It will be a great event for all of Hertha and a great test against a top international team."

Liverpool's young Brazilian Allan is currently on at Hertha, with the Bundesliga side hoping to extend his stay.
