Liverpool hire EA Sports' Peter Moore as new CEO to replace Ian Ayre

Liverpool have appointed Peter Moore of EA Sports as the club's new chief executive officer.

Current CEO Ian Ayre will be departing his role at the end of February as he takes up a position at German second-division side 1860 Munich.

Moore, who was born on Merseyside, will join the club in the summer when he leaves his role as chief competition officer at EA Sports' competitive gaming division.

The 61-year-old has held senior positions at Microsoft, SEGA and Reebok in the past and holds a bachelor's degree from Keele University in the UK and a master's degree from Long Beach State in California.

The appointment completes a 10-month transition plan by FSG and finalises the senior management structure at the Merseyside club.

Ayre decided to depart three months ahead of schedule to become German 1860 Munich's general manager.
