Liverpool would allow Hull City loan for Lazar Markovic - source

Liverpool would allow winger Lazar Markovic to join relegation-threatened Hull City on loan, a source has told ESPN FC.

The Serbia international is on a season-long loan at Sporting Lisbon, but the Portuguese side want to end his stay at the Estadio Jose Alvalade after a miserable spell.

Liverpool and Sporting would both need to come to an agreement in order for the loan deal to be terminated.

The source added that the Reds would be willing to cancel Markovic's stay at Sporting should he agree a move to Hull till the end of the season.

Markovic, who joined Liverpool for £20 million from Benfica in the summer of 2014, moved to Sporting in a temporary switch on transfer deadline day this summer.

A source told ESPN FC that the 22-year-old performed a "big U-turn," having initially informed Liverpool he did not want to return to Portugal.

He has since endured a difficult spell in Jorge Jesus' side, making just 11 appearances in total and last featured on Dec. 7.

Markovic spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce and returned to Liverpool in the summer but failed to impress manager Jurgen Klopp throughout the preseason.

The one-time Chelsea target has made 34 appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals.
