Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge going nowhere in January window - Klopp

LIVERPOOL -- Striker Daniel Sturridge will not leave in the January transfer window, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said.

England international Sturridge been linked with a move away from Anfield in recent weeks amid a struggle to force his way into the starting XI.

He has been limited to just four Premier League starts this season due to the success of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane in the attacking positions.

However, Klopp told a news conference on Friday that neither Sturridge nor any other first-team player would leave in the winter window.

"I think you and your colleagues create stories where there is no story and then ask me about the story which is no story," he said.

"There is absolutely no thought to sell any player of the first-team squad. I don't think it would make sense.

"Unfortunately, Daniel is not in training [at the moment], and that's the thing I'm more concerned about than any transfer rumours.

"I'm prepared for January and all the things you could ask -- it will be funny, I'm sure."

Meanwhile, Klopp revealed that Sturridge would not play any part in the game at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The 27-year-old sat out the recent matches against Sunderland and Leeds United due to a "minor calf strain."
