Jurgen Klopp won't rule out Georginio Wijnaldum or Adam Lallana vs. United

LIVERPOOL, England -- Jurgen Klopp is not ruling out Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana for Monday night's meeting with Manchester United.

The pair are doubts for the game against Jose Mourinho's side after Wijnaldum was taken off injured in the Netherlands' 1-0 defeat to France on Monday night, while Lallana picked up an issue with his groin in the win at Swansea City prior to the international break.

Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne, meanwhile, are both "in the race" to start at Anfield after both players did not join up with their respective national teams because of injury.

On Wijnaldum and Lallana, Klopp told a news conference at Melwood on Friday afternoon: "[They are] not too bad but it's a question of perspective, I would say. In this moment, we don't know exactly who is available. We all know about the obvious issues with Gini and Adam but they are both not ruled out for Monday.

"Four sessions to go sounds long, but [it's] only four sessions to go, so we have to see. I don't have to make a decision now, so I can wait until I make my final decision and we will have a really good team on the pitch I'm sure.

"Dejan and Nathaniel trained Tuesday and Wednesday so they are in the race."

Klopp believes the extra days of rest before the Monday kickoff will benefit Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, who clocked up the miles as they travelled to South America with Brazil over the international period.

"It's a big impact," Klopp said. "It means we have four sessions to go until Monday night and that means that a lot of things can happen. I've made no decision yet.

"They came back, they did what they had to do until now. Roberto [did] a little bit more in the last session, Phil played nearly two complete games so he had only recovery after a long, long flight.

"Even after the club did everything to bring them as comfortably as possible back to England, it's still a long trip.

"So, it's still in their legs but each day, each hour helps until the next game and so that we play on Monday is an advantage in this case, of course."

Klopp also confirmed that young defender Joe Gomez made a return to full first-team training on Thursday and was given a round of applause by his teammates after a lengthy absence.

The 19-year-old has been out since last Oct. when he first ruptured his ACL before suffering another setback with an Achilles injury in the summer.

"With a big applause, he came back," Klopp added. "It was really nice to have the boy back in training. It is only parts of training. He needs time, he has to do a lot until he's match fit, but it's really good to have him back.

"Actually, it is the first time I've had him. He got his injury in the international break when I came here last year. Now it is his first time on the pitch with the team. It was really a very nice moment."
